Walnut inlaid box from the chateau of the Marquis de Lavallette Droue in the Loire Valley. French 19th Century, 1880.

Rectangular shaped box with top opening lid, edges of the lid curving to create a flat topped pedestal slightly smaller than the lower edge of the lid. Lock at the center of the front, surrounded by a large rectangle inlaid shape which follows the angles of the front. Each side and the top of the box following similar design, the sides with a dark green thin rectangle, the top with a black thin rectangle. .

Interior of the lid has mirror almost to the edges. Inside of the box is a small tray of compartments with dividing wood pieces between with open top. Box locks with key included.

Measures 14 ¼” by 10 ½”
