Pair of Apothecary Covered Jars

Pair of Apothecary covered jars, white ceramic. French, 19th Century, circa 1850.

Urn shaped jars with sloped covers topped with a round finial. Standing on a square plinth, also of ceramic.

Painted with stylized foliate designs about the top of the jar and the bottom of the cover, with a thin dark blue band about the base of the jar, before the plinth. One jar is painted with the word Belladonna in dark blue, the other is painted with the word Valeriana in dark blue.

Each measures 10 high and 6 wide.
