Empire Style Chenet Gilded Pair. French 19th Century.

Chenet or firedog pair with carved seated Empire-Chenet-Firedog-Pair-Gilded-French. Seated on a carved rug on a platform. Before them rests a carved round ball with stylized foliate designs at the bottom. The Empire-Chenet-Firedog-Pair-Gilded-French feature beaded jewelry and a carved serene female face. Their backs are covered with a blanket carved with filigreed stylized foliate and floral designs. Behind the Empire-Chenet-Firedog-Pair-Gilded-French spherical gadrooned finials surmount a carved plinth, all of which rests on the upper platform.

Square column below the ball shape at the front, and below the gadrooned finials a round flat topped cone shaped carved piece, all resting on a plinth connecting the front and back together.

Most likely Empire style, with 24K ormolu gilding over bronze mounts.
