This beautiful Silver Towne Medallion features a broad cut edge around, on both sides.

Obverse is a copy of the famed image by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, a tribute to the prized Gold Double Eagle coin, issued from 1907 to 1933 by the US Mint, on which this image first appeared.

Some lore about the Double Eagles:

This work of Saint-Gaudens' appeared on the $20 United States gold piece, and an ultra high-relief issue coined only in 1907 required no less than eleven strikes to mint. In 1986, the obverse design was revived for American Eagle gold bullion coins.

Augustus Saint-Gaudens was an Irish-born sculptor raised in New York City. Considered a prime of the 'American Renaissance', his work included both monuments and statues, as well as designs for coinage.

As a matter of further interest, the 1933 Double Eagle is considered one of the most valuable and sought-after coins. 'St. Gauden' Silver Towne # Die No.: 1993S2, Dimension: 1 1/2 inches

The reverse features a a stark and courageous image of an eagle perched on an olive branch. Also marked 'Silver Towne(R)' , 'Winchester, Indiana' , 'One Ounce .999 Fine Silver' Silver Towne 'Plain Eagle Die No: 1993S25

Silver is a wise investment! Silver is valued both for its plethora of industrial uses, as well as its ornamental, artistic and decorative value. There is a high (and growing) industrial demand, and presently no excessive supply.

Like gold, silver is another highly sought-after precious metal. Silver was also used as circulated currency, even in the United Stated, during the twentieth century and earlier, and was last minted in 1964.

This medallion is coming directly from a sealed tube, handled only with white cotton coin handling/ military gloves. It is placed directly into an Airtite plastic holder, packed, and shipped directly to you.

Every effort is made to avoid any damage, wear, scratching, or tarnishing to the medallion, as all are handled with extreme care. They are removed from the mint case only once to take photos, and this is done again using white cotton gloves only. The medallion is wrapped individually in bubble wrap around the plastic case, and placed into the envelope for shipping to you.

These bullion medallion rounds are excellent as a hedge against inflation and currency woes. Great as a gift, bullion are both an aesthetic and supremely smart gift idea.
