Porcelain lamp with flowers and birds. Japanese, date unknown.

Urn shaped porcelain lamp resting on a black plinth, above a base of pierced abstract design in unknown metal. Base design repeats four times on a rounded square base. Plinth bottom bordered by squared scrolling designs all about the edge.

Finely detailed painted birds and flowers on a light blue ground decorate the urn shaped porcelain part of the lamp, which is surmounted by a shape similar in reverse to the plinth below, also in black, decorated at the bottom with abstract gold designs. The stem above features a central trapezoidal shaped piece in reverse, with highly abstract relief sculpture, nearly symbological, to which attach curving branches which terminate in light sockets with chain pulls. The stem continuing above to terminate in a stylized design top screw.

Measures 27" high to shade rest.
