Chinese Design Etagere Black Lacquered and Gilded. French, 20th Century.

Two central shelves slightly recessed with shaped cut-out in front. Bottom shelf is full shelf, with gilded floral design at center front. Pierced frieze with gilded design on front and sides. Sides with X-shaped support from the top frieze to the bottom shelf. Bracket feet. .

Top of etagere features a gilded scene of Chinese homes and people, with trees between the houses and a bridge at the right. Birds above the scene, also gilded.

This black lacquered etagere measures 37 ½" by 15 3/4", and is 38 3/4" high.
