American Candle Holder 1700s

Candlestick or candle holder, early American, 18th Century, 1700s.

Rough handmade barrel shaped central piece, with three curved legs. Candle holder is made of iron, except for the central piece, which is made from a single block of wood, possibly a segment of a tree branch.

A thin central piece of iron surmounts the central wood piece, which is surmounted by a candle holder, which contains a yellow tallow candle. Provenance is unknown, and though it is most likely American, such cannot be guaranteed.

Signed with the initials I.H. in large letters on the side of the wood base.

Measures 17" high by 6" wide. The wood piece is 3" wide and 8" high.
