ANTIQUE African Kuba Spear Democratic Republic of Congo

This is an Authentic Kuba spear from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The spears of the Kuba tribesmen of the Democratic Republic of the Congo are not only functional, but are considered by many collectors of African art to be beautiful, as they show a level of craftsmanship and attention to detail not often seen in a functional weapon.

The spear offered here has a forged spear head in the shape of a leaf. The handle has some decorative elements on it, and is made from local wood. Part of the handle exhibits some wear where the spear would have been held, as this spear was used by Kuba warriors for hunting.

This spear is antique, though its actual date is unknown. It was referred to as an elephant spear.
