English Porcelain Communion Cup Lambeth Antique

This is an antique 17th Century English Porcelain Communion Cup, possibly Lambeth or Delft

This beautiful communion cup is made of fine porcelain, and shows in the interior a pictorial representation of the Cross, and the letters IHS integrated with the picture of the Cross.

This central image is a Christogram, used in the early church. The letters IHS are a transliteration of the first three letters of Jesus from Greek into Latin, and the cross was often represented with these three letters.

This lovely communion cup may be marked, but the markings have been covered by a tag from a prior seller of the item. It is painted white with handles at the sides. The interior design is painted in blue. There is some wear to the edges of this porcelain communion cup.

This porcelain communion cup measures 4 1/2" wide by 1 3/4" high.
