Louis XVI 3 Piece Garniture Sevres Porcelain Gilded Ormolu

Louis XVI style three piece garniture with mantle clock and five-light candelabra, gilded, Sevres porcelain. French, 19th Century.

Arched rectangular clock with central face surrounded by beading in bronze mounted ormolu gilding, with Roman numerals, hands in bronze mounted ormolu gilding. Central scene of courting couple, with a scene below the face of another courting couple, both scenes bordered with turquoise porcelain. Face is surmounted by stylized foliate design, bronze mounted ormolu gilded, with turquoise porcelain urn shaped finial with stylized foliate handles decorated with ormolu gilding over bronze mounts. Scenes of courting couples also decorate the sides of the clock. The clock is set into a pierced stylized foliate design with central Greek style face, in ormolu gilding over bronze mounts, upon a plinth, also ormolu gilded, set upon a base carved with abstract relief, bronze mounted ormolu gilded.

Each five-light candelabra with turquoise porcelain urn shaped center flanked by carved bronze mounted ormolu gilded griffins, set into a bronze mounted ormolu gilded base decorated on each of four sides with stylized foliate design with scrolled feet. Surmounting the urn is a central stem decorated with stylized foliate and floral design, connecting to four scrolling arms, each connected to a relief carved bobeche, beneath which are stylized flowers, and surmounting the bobeche are candle nozzles carved in relief, all bronze mounted and gilded with ormolu. Painted scenes surround the urn shapes in the center, and on each side of the bottom are separate scenes.

The piece is signed. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, or flaws.

Measurements: Clock: 17 1/2" high, 10" wide; candelabra: 17 1/2" high and 7" wide.
