This is an Antique Pottery Figure and Equestrian from the Tang Dynasty in China

This wonderful piece is from one of the most prosperous and powerful periods in China's history, the Tang Dynasty, existing between about 618 - 906 A.D. The Tang Dynasty was a glorious period in China's history, with a strong economy, culture, and military strength.

This wonderful sculpture depicts a woman riding a horse. Having survivied many centuries, much of the paint has come off this sculpture, though echoes of it still remain. The woman on the horse is wearing a dress that is painted red. Much of the red paint still remains. This interesting sculpture is called "worked forking," and was made specifically to be buried with its owner.

This interesting sculpture was found in a tomb from about 800 years ago. It is in good condition, considering its age. The material is unknown. The horse figure is standing on a square base, with its head held straight forward. The horse has a cropped mane, and the rider appears to be a woman wearing a full length tight fitting red tunic with a cowl at the front, and she is wearing black boots. One of her hands is by the saddle's pommel, and the other hand is at her side. Her hair is upswept into a knot on the top of her head. The rider's features are well-detailed, though some of the pottery on the face is worn.

Sculptures such as this one, made principally of painted and glazed pottery, are known as mingqi, or spirit goods, and were placed in tombs to provide for the deceased's needs in the afterlife. Female attendants were generally produced in groups for burial in the tombs of high-ranking women. The use of unfired clay to make this charming equestrian indicates that it was produced in eastern Central Asia during a period when ties between that region and China were particularly strong.

Her ensemble consists of a tight-fitting upper garment with a V-neck, narrow sleeves, and a long flaring skirt. Her hat would have been fitted with a veil for traveling in the desert. During the early days of the Tang dynasty (618–906) in China, this type of clothing became fashionable in the capital Chang'an and other metropolitan centers, and women also wore such hats complete with veils, to protect them from the city dust."

This is an antique RARE Lavender and Green Jadeite Sculpture representing peaches and flowers in a basket from China.

This beautiful sculpture is intricately carved, and the entire sculpture is a mixture of the lovely lavender and green colors. Due to its color, and its composition as Jadeite and not Nephrite, this sculpture is extremely rare. The lavender jadeite is a very rare color of jade, as it is usually found in colors between white and green. The Chinese artisans have used the naturally occurring placement of the lavender and green colors as the basis for their placement of the flowers and leaves. This is an extremely large Antique Sterling Silver Warwick Vase made in the style of George III.

This Warwick vase is dated 1818, made by Solomon Royes & John, East Dix in London, England. Features exceptional detail, and may be one of the earliest and largest examples in sterling silver. The original Warwick Vase, from which this vase was cast in 1818, was found in pieces in Rome at Hadrian's Villa.

The original Warwick vase was an ancient Roman marble vase with Bacchic ornament. This vase has two large handles formed of interwoven vine branches, spreading around the upper margin of this vase as tendrils, leaves, and clustering grapes. The heads around the Warwick vase represent satyrs. Below the satyr heads at the middle of the body of the vase is the head and body of a panther. One of the satyr heads is said to be a representation of Lady Hamilton with a fawn's ear.

Christofle is a bar in France, and this cocktail menu is an interesting way to choose the drinks patrons would like to be served.

This silver plated menu features a revolving dial anchored at the center. When the dial is turned, the central piece is used as an arrow to point to one of the drinks whose names are arranged in a circle around the dial. When the dial is pointing to a drink, the dose for each liquer item is revealed, as something of a recipe guide. For example, Blue Kamikaze would consist of 2 does of Cointreau, 2 doses of Blue Curacao, and 2 doses of lemon vodka.

This unique item has a clasp at the edge, and a carrying strap. When opened, the interior has a gold wash.

This sterling silver condiment set contains a salt container lined with blue cobalt glass, a pepper shaker, and a mustard dispenser also lined with blue cobalt glass, as well as two spoons, one for dispensing salt, the other for mustard.

At the time this condiment set was made, in London, England, 1962, salt was very valuable. Thus, the salt shaker is opened at the top, with the blue cobalt glass liner, so that the salt was visible. This condiment set is in its original box, and is in excellent condition. Sterling made in the Georgian style was somewhat larger and heavier.

This lovely condiment set has a combined weight of 265 grams of sterling silver.

The sterling silver condiment pieces measure as follows: Sterling silver mustard container: 2" high, 2 1/4" diameter, 3 1/2" long from the edge to the handle. The sterling silver salt container measures 1 1/2" high, and 2 1/4" in diameter. The sterling silver pepper shaker measures 3" high, and 1 1/2" in diameter. The sterling silver mustard spoon measures 3 1/4" long, with the spoon's width being 1/2" to 3/4", and the sterling silver salt spoon measures 2 1/2" long, and the spoon's diameter is 3/4" (the salt spoon is round). The box measures 3 1/2" tall, and 10" long, and 5" wide.

This is an exquisite antique carving on a Wooly Mammoth Tusk, of the Legend of the Monkey King.

The Legend of the Monkey King is also called “Journey to the West,” and describes the journey taken by the Buddhist monk Xuan Zang. Xuan Zang journeyed to India to obtain the Buddhist sutras, which he then brought with him back to China. Through his translation of these texts, and dispersal of the sutras throughout China, he was the founder of the Dharma character school of Buddhism in China. The Legend of the Monkey King also tells the tale of a monkey who was born from a stone and nourished by the five elements, The Monkey King’s name was Sun Wukong, which name was given to him by his Kung Fu master, who taught him the 72 polymorphic transformations, the art of combat in Kung Fu, and how to leap halfway around the world in a single leap. He also learned the secrets of immortality. The Monkey King became one of the servants of Xuan Zang in the story after he repeatedly rebels against the heavens, and is finally subdued by the Buddha, where he is trapped beneath a mountain for 500 years, awaiting his new purpose.
